Tell us about your sci-fi web series.

Four If By Space is a sci-fi/comedy inspired by old school Ed Wood style sci-fi and Shakespearean comedies.

There are two distinct stories that this series alternates between. In one, good natured illiterate novelist Quentin Elijah (Kent Meister) befriends and evil alien General (Richard Lovejoy.) As the two travel across the country towards New York City, Quentin slowly begins to realize that his new friend is not just an eccentric European...

The second storyline features Quentin's twin brother Evan (also Kent Meister) living a hedonistic and fast paced NYC lifestyle and becoming a mentor for the fugitive alien Guiradon (also Richard Lovejoy.)

Where did the idea/concept for your web series come from?

Brad had just purchased a camera right around the time that Kent and I were itching to practice working with film as medium. The three of us have a background in theatre, and we got together one day and kicked around a couple ideas. Despite not being remotely drunk, we came up with the basic template for Four If By Space.

Name some of your sci-fi influences. Any favorite movies, TV shows, novels?

Personally I have a ton of sci-fi influences. Babylon Five, Dr. Who, Firefly, Space: Above and Beyond, Star (Trek & Wars), anything that ever played on MST3K, etc. I'm also a fan of Frank Herbert, Douglas Adams, Karel Capek, Welles, Clarke, and many authors who helped pioneer the genre. I'd say Four If By Space is most influenced by Ed Wood. From the purposely cheesey special effects to the style of dialogue delivery. We embraced the B-movie with love.

Tell us about the technical production of your show. What camera & equipment did you use? Editing software & hardware? For visual effects, etc?

We shot on a Panasonic DVX100. Sound was recorded usong basic Shure compressor mics and the camera's internal recorder. All editing and special effects were done on an old version of Final Cut Pro (4.5, I think) and sound/music was done on ProTools.

Can you tell us any interesting facts or trivia about your show? Any funny stories?

Kent Meister is actually seven feet tall. I had to stand on (very large) boxes to shoot most of my scenes with him. This shoot also helped me realize my life long dream of eating an entire chicken with my bare hands.
