Tell us about your sci-fi web series.

jaypokalyptica as an audio podcast that tells the story of Jules Ismail, a time traveler from the future sent on a mission by President Obama back through time to prevent the apocalypse, and her companion RayRay, an artificial intelligence. Arriving in December of 2009, Jules and RayRay must discover the cause of the apocalypse and prevent it. They face many challenges, including demons, evil cults, and more.

Where did the idea/concept for your web series come from?

jaypokalyptica is a sort of spin-off of jaily, a show about the daily life of Jules Ismail ( jaily can be seen on YouTube at http://youtube.com/theroachyjaily ). It begins in a post-apocalyptic future. Jules isn't your everyday hero. She's transgender; a woman in a man's body, who aside from having to combat her personal demons, discovers she is destined to save the world.

Name some of your sci-fi influences. Any favorite movies, TV shows, novels?

Star Trek, definitely. Every series from TOS to Enterprise. And a bit of Stargate SG1 too. That sense of adventure and time travel definitely draws from these two SciFi masterpieces. There's also a little bit of Buffy and Angel in there when it comes to the demons and the other post-apocalyptic beasts.

Tell us about the technical production of your show. What camera & equipment did you use? Editing software & hardware? For visual effects, etc?

Since we're an audio show, jaypokalyptica is actually mixed with Audacity. All of the actors record their lines at their own pace in accordance with deadlines, then they email them in for mixing, and bam! They're all put together with sound effects and some music and uploaded to the website.

Can you tell us any interesting facts or trivia about your show? Any funny stories?

Most characters are based on the actors that play them, much like the original jaily series. The Artificial Intellegence, RayRay's vocal synthesizer is "based on the voice of Refi-chan" - the actual actress.
